Privacy Policy

What we do not collect
There are no accounts. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number or location.
Like any website, our hosting provider sees your device's IP address when the app connects to it. We do not store or log IP addresses ourselves, and we do not use them to identify or locate you.
What we do keep
- A random device identifier, created when you install the app. It is not linked to you personally.
- The settings you choose in the app: the parks and rides you follow, your wait limits, and the on/off switches for dings.
- Your phone type (Android or iPhone) and the time the app last checked in.
- A push-notification token, only if you turn dings on.
- Whether a Dings pass is active, and when it ends, as reported by RevenueCat.
- A one-way scrambled (hashed) copy of a phone identifier, with a count of the free dings used on that phone. On Android it is a hash of the app identifier Android provides; on iPhone it is a hash of a random identifier the app keeps in the iPhone’s keychain. It cannot be turned back into the identifier, and it is used only so the free dings are given once per phone. The same retention applies on both (see below).
Why
To show you wait times and to send the dings you asked for. We use it for nothing else.
Who handles it for us
- Amazon Web Services hosts the service and stores the data above in the United States.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) and the Apple Push Notification service (iPhone) deliver notifications to your phone, using your push-notification token.
- RevenueCat keeps your purchase status. It identifies you by the same random device identifier.
- Google Play (Android) and Apple (iPhone, App Store) process payments. We never see your card details.
How long we keep it
Data is deleted automatically after about 90 days without use. “Delete my data” in Settings deletes it from our servers immediately, and it clears the settings on your phone. Two things are kept after that, for about 13 months: the hashed phone identifier with its free-ding count (so the free dings cannot be claimed again), and a business record of each install and purchase (the device identifier, phone type, and for a purchase the product, price and store), which we use for our own bookkeeping. The app keeps its random device identifier, because it is also your purchase identifier, so your unlock keeps working. Purchase records held by RevenueCat and by Google Play or Apple are not removed by that button; write to us and we will ask them to delete what they can.
What we do not do
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for advertising. There are no ads, no analytics tools and no tracking in the app. The website’s server keeps standard access logs (IP address, page, referring site, browser type) for a few days at most; we use them only to count page views and keep only the totals.
Children
QueueDing is not directed to children under 13.
